Last Updated: 20 October 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Quitizen ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares information when you use the Quitizen mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
When you use the App, you may provide information including:
- Onboarding questionnaire responses, such as gender, age range, vaping history, device type, usage frequency, spending, previous quit attempts, reasons for quitting and symptoms;
- A display name, if you choose to enter one;
- Content you create in the App, including journal entries, personal notes and reminder preferences;
- Activity you log, including pledges, cravings, triggers, slips and use of in-app tools.
Journal entries and notes are stored only to provide those features. They are not used for analytics and are not shared with anyone other than the storage provider described in Section 4.
1.2 Information collected automatically
When you use the App, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information, including:
- Device and usage information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, and the screens and features you interact with;
- Identifiers, including an anonymous installation identifier generated when you first open the App and, where you have granted permission, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA);
- Diagnostic information, such as crash logs and performance data;
- Subscription information, including your subscription status, plan and renewal dates, as reported by the App Store.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate and maintain the App, including calculating your progress, milestones and savings;
- Personalise your experience and the content shown to you;
- Send local notifications you have enabled, such as pledge reminders;
- Process and manage subscriptions and free trials;
- Understand how the App is used, and improve its features and performance;
- Diagnose and fix technical issues;
- Measure the effectiveness of our marketing, where you have given permission;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the App and your subscription); your consent (for notifications and tracking); our legitimate interests (to improve and secure the App and measure its use); and compliance with legal obligations.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We use third-party providers who process information on our behalf to operate the App. These include Google LLC (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics) for authentication, data storage, analytics and crash reporting, and Superwall Inc. for subscription and paywall management. These providers are contractually bound to use information only as instructed by us.
- Apple. In-app purchases are processed by Apple Inc. through the App Store under Apple's terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information where required by law, regulation or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Quitizen, our users or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your information.
5. Tracking and Advertising
The App may request permission, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, to access your device's advertising identifier in order to measure which advertising campaigns lead to installs. If you decline, we will not access this identifier and the App will function normally. You can change your choice at any time in your device settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking. We do not display third-party advertising in the App.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as you use the App and as necessary to provide the service. When you delete your data from within the App, your information is permanently removed from our systems. Aggregated analytics and diagnostic data that do not identify you may be retained for longer in accordance with our service providers' standard retention periods.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access, correction and deletion. You can view and edit most of your information in the App. You can permanently delete all of your data using Delete account in Settings.
- Notifications. You can enable or disable reminders in the App's Settings or in your device settings.
- Tracking. You can allow or deny tracking in your device settings at any time.
- Subscriptions. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law, including the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@quitizen.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom.
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Transfers
Your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers operate. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, including the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Medical Disclaimer
The App provides general information and self-help tools to support quitting vaping. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and is not a substitute for professional medical care. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider with any questions about your health.
